I've been in my main towns with my friends and family for the Winter holidays. My friends from my old college and I love together and talk about how stupid Christians are - the opposite of what the Beaumont kids and I do, obviously. I had forgotten how much I love doing that, but I digress.
Some of my Old College friends are Christian - and possibly very secure and devout in their faith. BUT they have something that Beaumonters don't - perspective. They understand the craziness of other people of faith, and how unreasonable the debates get sometimes. That's why we can have such open, frank discussions - because they agree with me on my point that some Christians are just insane about their beliefs, and it's fucking annoying.
So, I was shown this clip from Fox News, and it was obviously going to start a conversation of "Oh, those freakin' Christians, I hate them, they're crazy." But I didn't have the same passion for the argument than I usually do. I didn't feel as passionately angry at Malkin - I just felt tired. I felt tired of the argument. I felt tired of these people thinking that Atheists don't have a right to exist. I felt tired of being part of a world that doesn't want me.
So... that's what Beaumont did to my Atheism / Disbelieving agnosticism. I'm still insanely devout to my belief, but I grow weary of the argument. I just want everyone to get along and not care about hurting others so goddamn much.
